Designed to fit most larger sized rooms such as a family room or basement, the Alen MDF3-50 provides superb performance at a great price. This 50 pint energy star rated dehumidifier delivers 620 watts of dehumidifying power, strong enough for up to 550 square feet. The MDF3-50 has a 9.5 liter inner water tank and two options for emptying - the removable water tank or continuous drainage through a traditional water pipe. This model offers two fan speeds and a humidistat that allows the user to set humidity levels from 35% - 80%.

I have owned thus unit for about 3 months and if has worked well so far. I don't like that the fan never shuts off. The hose outlet does take a little assembly but works well. Update 9/12: I have found that the fan does eventually switch off after a long period of time. Update 4/13 Unit is still working. It is noisier than what I would consider average for a dehumidifier, this mostly seems due to the plastic case buzzing from the vibration of the unit. I recently purchased a Winix which is quieter but does not show what the actual humidity is like the Alen does. It is more difficult to convert the Alen for hose discharge (requires installing a small section of hose inside the unit).

It is very well made, helps to relieve some pressure point pain, increases comfort, and helps to cut down on heat retention with my latex mattress.
