I have my PC attached to a HDTV in the living room, and the fan built into other HD video cards was driving me nuts (louder than the much larger CPU/tower fans). If you have a decent quiet fan in your system, and room for airflow around this cards huge heat sink (takes only one slot though), you'll love the quiet operation of this card.Two reasons why not 5 stars, due to the crappy ATI video control app (no fault of HIS):1) It let me change resolution to something that my TV couldn't support (1080p), and it didn't fall back automatically after turning the screen an unreadable mess. I had to do a safe mode windows startup and return to a good checkpoint - not something most folks know how to do. Those programmers should be arrested!2) It disabled the motherboard 5ch audio on my HP multimedia system and instead installed another audio driver which, according to the online help, controls a digital audio output that this card doesn't even have!To fix this I had to go into the BIOS config at startup and change the motherboard audio setting from "automatic" to "enabled". Then all was well. Again, something not everyone would know how to fix.I'm a computer engineer and software developer by trade, and after wasting a few hours before coming up with these fixes, I was close to calling for help (but I resisted, knowing that my friends would never let me live it down :).OK, now that you know what to do if are unlucky enough to mess up the video resolution or have a motherboard with insane factory settings, this video card works great and is as quiet as they get. I'm very happy with it.
