• Size: 8" x 8" (20cm x 20cm). Mepilex absorbs exudate effectively, even under compression bandages, and minimizes the risk of peri-wound skin maceration and erosion. The Safetac properties allow the dressing to be changed without causing trauma to the wound and surrounding skin or additional pain to the patient. Mepilex maintains a moist wound environment for optimal wound healing. Mepilex conforms well to body contours and can be cut. Mepilex can remain in place for up to seven days depending on the wound condition. Mepilex is designed for a wide range of exuding wounds, painful wounds and wounds with compromised or fragile surrounding skin including lower extremity ulcers (venous and diabetic and pressure ulcers). I have an auto-immune disorder called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It's an extremely painful condition that causes large open, inflamed wounds in my armpits. These bandages have been a life saver. Without them, I am in constant pain, and the wounds drain all over my shirts. Not pleasant, not fun. There is no cure for my disorder, so I have had to try to find ways to deal with this since I was 12 years old. For most of my life, I placed panty liners or maxi-pads the insides of my shirts to collect the drainage, and reduce friction on the wounds themselves. But they still rubbed on my sores and often would "miss" some of the drainage and many shirts were ruined. Then I met and married an ICU nurse, and she introduced me to these wonderful bandages. They stick to the wound itself, but peel off easily and with no pain. Because they are made of foam, they absorb all of my drainage. I don't have to suffer when I use these. Its as if the disease doesn't even exist. Since I don't encourage her to steal these for me, and never will- I sought them out online and found them cheapest here. But still, these are so expensive, I have to reserve them for special occasions, or especially painful days. If I could find these cheaper, I'd buy a lifetime supply.
