This quality juicer is a beast of a machine that squeezes every last drop out of anything you want to juice.The Angel is a pleasure to use, easy to clean and creates delicious drinks with 2-3 times more juice (and nutrients) than any juicer I have owned.JUICEThe most important part of a juicer, juice from the Angel tastes delicious and makes too much to drink!I make a Dr. Oz "Fresh" Juice daily, using celery, apple, spinach, cucumber, lemon, lime, ginger and parsley. Using 1kg (35 ounce) of ingredients the Angel Juicer returns 894gms (31 ounce) of juice, making it almost 90% efficient at extracting liquid from the mentioned ingredients.The Angel excels at leafy greens, but is also very impressive with fruits. Pomegranate juice is highly recommended, to make you strong like bull!Orange, pineapple or grapes are almost as yum, and as there is very little pulp ejected, juices taste more flavoursome and have a consistency better than any I have tried from another juicer, carton or juice bar.There is very little foam produced perhaps around 2-5% of total juice content.The Angel also makes soy milk, nut butters and seed juice, although I have never made these.EASE OF USEThe Angel is quickly and easily assembled with a simple on and off function, however it is slower than a centrifugal juicer in extracting juice.The twin screws quietly and slowly chew the juice out rather than spinning it out at high speeds like a centrifugal juicer. This is a Rolls-Royce juicer for a luxurious drink, if you want a fast drink buy a Ferrari Breville juicer or something.If produce is inserted too quickly, a mushy goop at the bottom of the feeding shoot appears and eventually a couple of drops will leak from the clamping mechanism. This is the biggest annoyance I have encountered with the juicer, but rarely problematic if produce is inserted slowly enough.So, instead of washing, cutting and juicing all the fruit/vegetables at the same time, I find it easier to chop then juice, chop then juice, giving the Angel ample time to squeeze everything out, taking less than 5 minutes all up, for 1kg of Fresh Juice.You can put things like apple seeds into the twin gears without change in taste to the juice, but many lemon seeds make a juice bitter.CLEANINGTo make the machine spotless takes a good few minutes. All non-motor parts except for the screen mesh need just a quick wash under the tap(faucet)Other reviewers stated finding it difficult to clean the screen, and it can be awkward at first, but much less so than centrifugal juicers with their myriad of parts and clamps. I found the screen much easier to clean if liquidy produce, such as lemon, is juiced after more fibrous produce such as celery.Then only a wash under the tap with a few scrapes on the outside and a few scrubs on the inside (with the included scraper and brush) is needed. When juicing pomegranates, everything washes away with a quick splash with no scrubbing required.As everything is stainless steel, there are no plastic bits to discolour, meaning that everything looks brand new if wiped clean with a dry cloth. After months of use the juicing parts do not have a single water mark, scratch or stain on them, but the stainless steel motor unit has a couple of faint water marks which may be annoying if you are a perfectionist like me.After a few months of daily use, a slight calcium residue appeared on the juicing parts but a vinegar soak and a toothbrush, as per the manual instructions, dealt with that.BUILD QUALITYThe motor unit is a monster with a 5 year warranty, but like most quality products I expect it to last much longer than the stated guarantee. Both the motor and the twin screws are very heavy and sturdy feeling. In comparison the mesh screen is very light, but is strong and its weight beneficial when cleaning. The wooden plunger is of excellent quality, as it has not stained or split at all.The plastic juice and pulp containers however, are weak, scratched quickly from cleaning and stain if left dirty. The benefits of having an all stainless steel juicer means no contact with (potentially toxic or gender bending) plastics, and promoted in detail on the Angel website, so why a cheap plastic container was provided is beyond me.I replaced the plastic juice container with a 1 litre Pyrex jug which works better as a juice receptacle.When switched on the Angel is remarkably quiet, with most of the noise coming from the internal cooling fan. During use, the Angel is a little noisier than a loud fridge, but much, much quieter than a centrifugal juicer, ie. you can still hold a conversation or listen to music.GOOD: Easily makes wonderful tasting and copious amounts of juice.BAD: Have to chop-up and insert fruits and vegetables slower than a centrifugal juicer.UGLY: Should replace el-cheapo plastic jug with a glass one. Water marked stainless steel motor unit deducts one star.In short- Buy this product if you can afford it and love vegetable juices. Comparison to the Omega VERT

I wrote a recent review on the Omega Vert and was asked to compare the Angel 5500 with it. The following is a repeat of what was written in my Omega Vert review. ________After some time with the Angel 5500 and the Omega Vert here is my snapshot showdown between the two machines. Guns loaded with leafy greens, fruits (fresh and frozen) and nuts.Quantity of juice: The Angel is far superior to the quantity of juice produced compared to the Vert. I even took the remaining pulp from the Vert and fed it to the Angel and it produced enough juice on its own for 3 afternoon shooters.Quality of juice: As expected the Angel won here. The juice from the Angel did have slight pulp but overall it was smooth and clean tasting. Appearance and taste provided a much deeper vibrancy. I would say the color was 2-3 shades deeper with the Angel juice in contrast to the Vert. Taste was more complex but yet silky with the Angel. Whereas the Omega Vert had a lot of pulp and was bath water foamy. I let the Vert juice settle a bit and then strained which produced a cleaner taste but the color was still not as clear and vibrant.Heat dissipation: Little difference detected between the two.Frozen fruit - sorbet test: The Vert won by a mile on this one. It gobbled up all the frozen fruit combos I gave it and churned out very nice sorbet. The Angel produced a syrup mess.Cleanup: The Omega Vert won by a 10 minute faster clean up. Frankly I'm anal about keeping things new and very clean and it took me 25 minutes to clean up the Angel and aprox 15 minutes for the Vert. I could have speeded up both times by not cleaning the screens as diligently but as I mentioned I'm meticulous when it comes to cleaning. The screen on the Angel is a pain to clean.Build quality: Despite the all stainless steel on the Angel I believe that the Omega Vert is just as substantial but with hard composites. The Vert's housing is very well made but the machine's parts are in question to longevity. Side note, Omega has a fantastic warranty to fall back upon in case.I'm torn as which to keep as I can't swing space or expense to keep both. I tend to think I would use the Vert more on a daily bases due to clean up ease. However with the Angel I could get away with juicing every 2-3 days and feel safe that the fridge'd juice is of the same if not higher quality as what I would gain from daily juicing with the Vert. Without a doubt if I juiced on both machines daily the Angel would provide a greater amount of nutrients and quantity than the Vert.I hope this helps in a snapped out comparison.

Angel vs. VRT330 vs. Champion Juicer with Juice Press

I'm writing this review to compare all three juicers that I own and use often.Champion + Juice PressFirst of all the best juice quality from any juicer on the market is obtained through a separate masticating grinder and juice press combination method such as the Norwalk Juicer. It also happens to be the biggest pain to clean up since you have to clean up two parts of the machines instead of one plus the juicing cloths. The cheaper way to do this is by using a Champion Juicer as the grinder and a separate Juice press and the best place I found to buy it was from this site: [...] The guy is really nice to talk with and really takes the time to help you find the best combination for your needs. This is the juicer combination recommended on the Gerson Therapy where you have to juice 13 times per day, so they are made to last and give the best quality juice on the market.You can also use the Champion juicer as a juicer without the press for any soft fruits such as melon, pineapple and the like. Although it can juice hard veggies as well without the separate press it does add heat so to keep the enzymes in tact the separate method of grinding then juice pressing is recommended highly.The Champion includes a blank screen attachment to homogenize fruit to be used for frozen deserts and making frozen sorbets and is excellent at that function and the best on the market IMO for that purpose. Cleanup can be a pain for both parts but the champion it's self is easy to clean but it isn't dishwasher safe. The Champion machine is built like a tank and feels like it will stand the test of time and is approved for commercial usages.Pros: Best quality juice if used as a grinder with separate press; Can homogenize frozen fruit and berries to make desserts; Juices very fast; Excellent build quality; One of the best and oldest names in the businessCons: Stringy veggies and greens can get caught up in grinder; If used as a juicer alone without the press it heats the juice up and could kill enzymes; To get maximum juice quality the juice press is expensive and adds another step to clean; Maintaining juice cloths is another cleanup hassle; Not dishwasher safe; When no screen is used and you just use the Champion as a grinder the food gets stuck in the safety screen... I had to cut that off with some kitchen scissors to allow the machine to operate as just a grinder.AngelThe second in quality of juice is the twin geared juicers compared to the separate masticating grinder and juice press combination. The exception is green juices as I think this provides the best quality green juice of any juicer I have used. The Angel Juicer here is tops in that regard because it uses all stainless steel parts and the largest gears and screens in it's class. You have to be really serious about juicing like I am to validate the cost of this vs. the Green Star that is very comparable at half the cost. The deal breaker for me between the green star and angel juicer was that this machine is all stainless steel and my plastic juicers don't hold up for the 13 times per day that I use them. I abuse my juicers like one would if they owned a juice bar and the Angel is built like a tank like the Champion Juicer and feels as rock solid and has held up the best of all juicers I have used so far.I'm not sure why people complain about cleaning this machine since I think it's super easy to do. The only problem is that Angel didn't include a brush that looks like a tooth brush to clean the outside... they just give a scraper that doesn't work that well. I took the scrubbing "tooth brush" looking thing from my Omega VRT330 and use that to clean the outside screen and the gears just need to be rinsed under water... it's that easy. They give you a heavy duty pipe cleaner looking thing and I bought another one at Home Depot that is meant for larger pipes and it seems to clean the inside faster and can do the feed chute as well. The food just comes off the stainless steel. If the holes get clogged on the machine the directions say to run a lemon through it and let it sit for a bit so the acid can dissolve whatever is clogging the machine, but I never have had to do that yet.The quality of juice with the Angel is excellent and the color is much deeper than anything except the separate grinder and juice press. The yield is the best of all juicers except the separate grind and press machines with the exception of green juice where it is the absolute best in green juice yield. The con is that since the machine runs at a low speed and gets so much juice out that it can be slower than other juicers. Where the Angel really sets it's self apart is the juicing of greens like Kale, Cabbage, Lettuce and stringy stuff like celery. The green juice from the Angel surpasses even the Norwalk or Champion / Juice press combination. It's amazing to me when I put in a whole head of kale and the only thing wasted is the amount of pulp that can sit in the palm of my hand from something that filled my entire veggie draw in the fridge... amazingly efficient and amazing juice quality.Another con for the machine is that I don't like the way it handles citrus juices and very watery stuff like trying to juice melons or pineapple. The juice from stuff like that tends to take a long time to go through the machine and can back up into the chute. I marked it down a star for this reason since juicing a pineapple or melon turns into a project when it is so easy in my VRT330 or Champion with the juice screen.A hint for anyone with this machine and if they are looking to cut down on cleaning time... let the juicer run for a few minutes after you are done juicing so it can eject all the pulp it can and cleanup will be a breeze. The worst thing that can happen is when the twin gears get stuck in the juicing screen because it is clogged up (usually with something that has a lot of seeds). I tried to juice fresh flax seeds and got the gears so stuck that I had to use a screw driver to pry them out... so don't do that.Pros: Green juice is where this machine shines and does a better job than every other juicer including the Norwalk or Champion combo; Very fine low pulp juice; Very low amount of foam shows little oxidation; Juice stores longer than other juicers without going bad; Driest pulp with the most nutrients and juice extraction besides the separate grinder and juice press like the Norwalk or Champion + Separate Juice Press; It pulls in stringy greens like kale and celery where other juicers just get clogged up or squeak; Handles the hardest veggies with ease such as beets; All stainless steel means cleanup is very simple on the 5500 (the 5000 model was a pain to clean but they improved it with the 5500 model); Motor is very solid and powerful;Cons: Not good for fruit and watery veggies like cucumbers; It takes longer to juice than with my other juicers; juicing can be messy when I remove the collection bins so I put a small tin under them to catch the residual juice; if the gears get stuck it's a royal pain in the @ss to get them out; does not homogenize frozen fruit; doesn't have any other screens or adjustments to allow better juicing of pulpy fruitOmega VRT330This is basically the Hurom juicer that Omega sticks their name on with a few small minor differences. The main difference is the warrantee with Omega is the best in the business being either 10 or 15 years for all juicers. This juicer is by far the fastest juicer I own and requires the least amount of effort to put produce through. I can literally juice three apples and a pound of carrots in under two minutes because the feed chute pulls the produce in without me having to jam it down. The feed chute is also very large so prepping veggies is less timely. The only time I use the pusher is when juicing greens or something too big for the chute and I have to force it down.This juicer excels with wet pulpy fruits like melons where other juicers don't do as well. It can also be used as a food mill even though it's not stated in the directions. Cleanup is a bit longer than with the Angel juicer but that time is made up with the speed that it sends produce through. The juice quality is just OK compared to the other juicers I own. It is by far the most pulpy of the three and the ejected pulp is the wettest so there is wasted nutrients and juice that is not fully extracted. This juicer doesn't homogenize frozen fruits, but you can use it with frozen berries to shoot them out the waste tube to get a frozen treat.Pros: Easiest to use since it self feeds produce; Fastest juicer; Well designed collection bins; Great warrentee from a great company; Juices melons and fruit exceedingly well; Cleanup is pretty easyCons: Juicing screen tends to crack with heavy juicing; juice is too pulpy for my taste and I need to put it through a strainer; Plastic surfaces tend to stain with beets and carrots; not dishwasher safe; Doesn't do greens well and gets clogged up if you don't put through other produce to get the greens through__________________________________________________________________________With all those reviews in mind there is no clear winner because it depends on your needs. If your concern is the best quality of juice or are treating cancer with the Gerson Therapy then go with a masticating grinder and juice press combo like the Norwalk or Champion and separate press. If your concern is the best yield and nutrients from green juices then the Angel or Green Star is your juicer. If you will sacrifice a bit of juice quality and want the fastest juicer and don't want to spend all day pushing a plunger into a juicer then the VRT might be your juicer.I personally find a use for all three juicers since each excels at a different thing. Right now I lent my champion juicer and press off to a family member with cancer so they can do the Gerson Therapy and I find most all of my needs met by using the VRT for fruits and melons and the Angel for all the other juicing I do.All three juicers are relatively quiet in operating and don't sound like a plane taking off. The champion is probably the loudest and the angel and VRT are very quiet if you have family or roommates. I hope this helps... happy juicing.
