5nice amp for bass shakers
By M. Brown
used this to power two aura pro bass shakers and it works very nicely, easy to connect wires to the terminals and the word lights up green on top of the amp for some style points.

Product Description

The Les Paul is one of the most influential guitars ever made, so it must have always been popular, right? Well, by the late '50s, the Les Paul had declined in popularity for whatever reason. In an effort to kick start sales, Gibson shed the Goldtop finish if favor of new translucent finishes that really showed off the beauty of the carved maple tops. The Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul Plain Top is a stunning recreation of the guitar that was hiding under the Goldtop finish. Built just like they were in 1958, the Les Paul Plain Top joins a solid mahogany body to a carved maple top and a long neck tenon mahogany neck. The result is a guitar that's just like the one you could've bought brand new in 1958. The 1958 Les Paul Plain Top is a beautiful instrument that you'll cherish for the rest of your life.

5Dream Guitar
By Arch
There's nothing that compares to playing a real Paul. The tone, even clean, is like a ripsaw tearing into the flesh of a shark. Wielding this axe is like chugging a baseball bat, but if you are in the market for a '58 specifically, that's probably what you want.I just want to quickly echo my experiences after buying this, with regards to the other guy's review.I've owned this guitar for 8 months, played for at least 20 hours a week, so you do the math.Fret issue:I haven't noticed any issue with degradation or tonality. I play a good amount of jazz, metal, working all over the fretboard and they all sound true and sustain great.Knob issue:I'm not sure what he means by "tough to turn" - I guess they're a little tighter than my strat but I'm pretty sure my grandmother could pull of a volume swell if she could manage to hold the 9 lbs of fury. I guess I don't do a lot of these in my play so its not an issue. I would rather the knobs be protected from the occasional bump and not have to readjust everything. I do want to note that, as with any high output pickup, there is a BIG difference between Volume - 10, and 9, and 8.8, 8.5. The upper end is very touchy, so dialing enough output to mesh well with your amp and other effects with take some getting used to. 10 just sounds trashy to me, I rarely go above 9, and I play plenty of metal and hard stuff. 10 is good for Jack White I suppose. As a sidenote, I play these with a Boogie Mesa 50 Combo, but I will eventually go for the Holy Grail of JCM + Paul. This guitar will sound good clean though near any amp though.

4A fantastic piece of guitar history.
By robert louis duckworth
I got mine in 2008. Years ago, when I lived in San Francisco, a guy would show up at the jam sessions with a real '54 Goldtop. I asked him if I could play it and he said sure and handed it to me. The first thing I noticed was how round the neck was. It wasn't a "D" shape like most Gibson's are, it was very round in my palm. I really liked that feel and it stuck with me. I have 12 other Gibsons including a '63 Firebird, a '67 Trini Lopez Standard, an a '82 Moderne reissue. None had a neck like that, and the closest was my '76 Explorer. I have a '74 Les Paul Standard that is a fine now with a refret and Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickups I got in the late eighties when they were new on the market. I had a guitar to trade(Dot neck 335 reissue in cherry)and decided to check out one of these. It took a couple of weeks but my music store got in 3 of these Plaintop reissues. A gold one, a Darkburst one and one in Ice Tea. The first one I grabbed was this one, finished in "Ice Tea" and there it was.....that neck, like the '54. Big and round in my hand. I just stopped and said "This is it". I didn't even try the other ones. I can vouch that the Burstbuckers sound like proper PAF's. My brother had a real '60 ES 355 with cream bobbins(you could see it if you looked closely at the pole pieces. These pickups are not dense or heavy sounding. They have good treble and there is a certain "airy" quality to them. Also even though Burstbuckers are not potted, I have had them plugged into my '85 JCM 800 cranked up terribly loud and had no microphonic feedback issues at all. My favorite Les Paul players are Eric Clapton in the Bluesbreakers and Mike Bloomfield's work. I wanted a guitar like theirs, or at least as close as I could afford, and this is it. The only thing I changed right away was the plastic jackplate to a metal one. I had a plastic one on my '74 and it broke and I saw no reason to replace it with another plastic one, so metal ones are the way for me. I absolutely love this guitar now. Now I'm going to tell you the problems I DID have. Gibson touts that they PLEK their guitars frets and nut and it is the best that a computer can do. Well, that's fine but they don't finish the job and crown the frets after the PLEK treatment, so the guitar doesn't "ring" perfect. If your frets have a flat spot, you will get a warble in the upper register on the plain strings around the 12th fret and higher. Mine had that so if you find one that does this make a deal with the store to fix it before putting down ALL the money. Also(this took a couple of years)my front pickup had a cold solder joint. It would work, then it would quit, and when I took it to be repaired, it worked fine. It took 4 trips and finally the repair guy just resoldered the whole guitar. They only charged me once, but it was a bother. These guitars are microscopicly accurate to the late fifties Les Pauls. About the only other issue is the volume/tone knobs don't turn super easy, so volume swells are not a piece of cake. After the fret work and the solder situation I can honestly say this is my No.1 go to guitar. Tell you the truth, the idea of owning a real 58/60 Standard would be scary. Owning a guitar that people would literally kill you for.....not my idea of a quiet life. I'll just take this one. Also, if you want prettier wood on top, it can add a couple thousand to the price. This has the construction and the sound and the feel. That's all I wanted. Love it, love it, love it now.

4Etymotic HF5 - What I Think Of It
By Taikero
Packaging: Simple packaging that wasn't difficult to get into. No tools/scissors required. No excessive plastic or cardboard.Included Items: HF5 IEM, Small Etymotic pouch, Standard Etymotic tri-flange tips, Baby blue tri-flange tips, Large dark grey foamies (not the mushroom type), Filter changing tool, Spare filtersCord: Seems sturdy enough. Has a slider above the "Y" junction. Shirt clip already on the cord. Cord doesn't seem too thin or too thick. Plug is straight instead of having a bent or "J" shape.Initial Impression: Good lord, I have to insert these deep to get a seal with the stock tips!Sound: Very clean. Bass is tight, fast, a little anemic for my taste, but definitely there and not completely disappointing. (Note to those who want warmer sound from these: With a small 4-5 dB boost in the 40-60 Hz range and a 2-3 dB boost in the 250-450 Hz range, the bass/low mid range is just about right) Mids are neutral. They don't sound either forward or recessed. Highs are fresh, airy, energetic, and crisp but without being piercing or shrill. These have the least sibilance I've heard from an IEM. I can only hear sibilance with "ch" sounds, not "s" or "sh". Even then it is barely detectable.Recommended Genres: Pretty much anything but hip hop. These sound great with vocals, piano (wow), guitar, and anything which doesn't require massive bass response. I suppose you could even do a few hip hop songs, but they have to have the bass pretty much built in to the song (such as Flo Rida's "Low"). Anything with bass that focuses on a warm, constant mid-bass + low, low (30 Hz or less) bass in the background (Hurricane Chris's "Hand Clap") with few bass spikes will not sound good with these. These are especially great for anything that requires a fast bass response (Metal/Symphonic Metal/"Fast" Rock) or energetic, airy highs (Pop/J-Pop/Guitar + Vocal/Classical/Orchestral). Or both! (Think of Ministry) I can't lavish enough praise on these for how well I think they render pianos. I literally want to reach out and start playing (my fingers unconsciously twitch!) whenever I hear a piano with the HF5.Soundstage: Honestly, the music is somewhat constrained here, probably in large part to how deep you have to insert these puppies. Your music isn't going to surround you or anything. The instrument separation is great with these, but the sound feels a bit like it's been squeezed into a small room (Maybe a small recording studio?). That or if you have these cranked loud enough you could consider that you're standing on the stage or in the first row instead of being in the crowd. Once in a while you'll be able to place something off to the side, but it won't be as often as with a fair number of other IEMs. This is also highly dependent on the quality of the seal you have. The better the seal, the better the soundstage is with these.Microphonics: Bad and lots. Luckily (and somewhat annoyingly) the shirt clip is attached straight out of the box!Isolation: Good and just okay. Good on first insert. Without music playing I can hardly hear conversation in the office, and even then it's an undecipherable mumble. After a period of time the seal loosens up a bit and it's more like a standard IEM, where you can listen to conversations if you want with no music playing, but it's not going to bother you while listening. I just had a coworker open a can of soda no more than 3 feet away from me and I could only hear it because I was listening for it (Listening to Eric Johnson's "East West", which isn't really a complex, loud song).IMPORTANT NOTE: Quality of seal is almost inversely proportionate to comfort if you have medium to large ears. This applies to stock tips only and will not be an issue with foam tips or your favorite tip that fits the Etymotic HF5 nozzle.Comfort: Starts off poor with the initial seal. These are a pain to get a seal with, and I don't really have large ears or ear canals. I generally use medium-sized tips on everything but my Klipsch Image X10. After the seal loosens up a bit (helps to yawn lightly), they aren't bad, but you'll know they're there.IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU CAN SLEEP WITH THESE ON! They rival the Klipsch Image X10 for comfort in this regard!Comfort - Tips: The HF5 tri-flange tips are interchangeable with Klipsch gels and Future Sonics bi-flanges. The sound stage improves with the Klipsch gels, as well as warming up the sound a bit.Overall Sound Quality: 4.5 out of 5, only because of the small soundstage and just-barely-too-low low end response.Overall Value: At the $99 I spent, 4.5 of 5. At MSRP of $150, I'd say 4 of 5. Microphonics (shirt clip not withstanding), no airplane/volume attenuator, lack of various tip sizes, diminished soundstage, and just-too-little low end response (for my taste) bring the HF5 down. However, the sound reproduction is excellent, and I am personally quite happy with the signature overall. With a slight EQ boost on the low end and low mids, these are a very enjoyable IEM. The Etymotic HF5 has the least sibilance I've heard from an IEM. Also, you can sleep with them on no problem. These were definitely worth my money.

5Extreme Noise Isolation (Plus There's Music Inside)
By I. Nikhamin
After losing my noise canceling Audio Technica ATH-ANC7 headphones on a trip, I was miserable. I was forced to turn my music up to turn the outside world down. After 3 months, I just couldn't take it. Did a few days worth of research and decided on the HF5s finally.WOW!!!These earphones are exactly what I've always wanted, just never knew existed--excellent music inside my earplugs. I'm bad at handling noise that is out of place (neighbors stomping upstairs, blasting TV downstairs, extremely loud individuals on the subway (+ the subway noise itself), car alarms...). These guys completely block all of it out. I can sit and study in the middle of a cafeteria and not hear a soul. I'm no longer that grumpy old guy (24 is the new 75) that asks everyone to "pipe down you noisy kids." The noise isolation is so good that my wife constantly surprises me even if she's trying to get my attention--I just don't hear her calling me--as she comes up to me.As far as the sound quality goes, these are far superior to the AT (just like in the noise dept). There's no hiss of the noise cancellation and the music is just much more clear. So many little sounds are heard hat I just didn't know were part of the music or the show. I'm periodically turning around when I think someone's behind me--nope it's just the 3D sound that these things give off.PROS:*Sound Isolation. 10/10. I use extreme ear plugs and these are better (plus there's music inside).*Small Package. 10/10. Completely fit inside pinna (outer ear), so there's nothing protruding. Can sleep in these comfortably if so inclined.*Sound Quality. 9/10. I'm not at all an audiophile. I just hear much more detail in a lot of the music I have and the shows I watch. May seem a bit 'tinny' for some, but that's 'cause they're not dull and bassy.CONS (small issues):*3-flange earpieces. Will scrape ALL of your wax out if you don't really clean your ears. Get gunked up quick. Keep cleaning those ears.*3-flange earpieces. May be a bit uncomfortable if put in dry or slightly off. Have to make sure to push in all the way (stop BEFORE it hurts).*Rubbery cord. Kind of annoying. Grips tables, so it won't slide when you lean on it or try to push it over a bit with a textbook or something. Harder to untangle (not slippery).*Cord transmits movement sounds unless wrapped around ears. Should be preshaped or stiffer at the ears to make wrapping easier. Not perfect as is.*L/R designation written in least visible place on earphone--underneath, in thin white lettering. This is a pet peeve, the chords or phones can easily be marked by a tiny something to distinguish between them. Conclusion:These headphones provide me with complete noise isolation and excellent sound quality. They have been tested in cafes, NYC Subway, home, office. If you're looking for quiet, stop looking!!! Plus there's music inside!

2Major bass problems ruin these earphones
By Wesley S. Rast
After reading several glowing reviews of these headphones, I ordered a pair here on amazon just a couple of weeks ago. Upon receiving them, I opened up the package, jammed them into my iphone and ears, and cranked up some of my favorite tunes. The first thing I was struck by was the understated bass. Bass guitar seemed to have vanished from every track I listened to. I was dismayed to find that bass solos sounded like they were coming through the wall from another room. This problem was identical with anything in the sub 500Hz range. On the flip side, the mid- and high-range was absolutely stellar. Vocals were detailed in ways I had not experienced before with my Etymotic 6i's, Shure's, or my new pair of Apple's next-gen in-ear 'phones.I figured that I'd get them to work, where I do most of my listening via Winamp on my PC. A little judicious work in the equalizer to make up the difference, and I'd be happy as a peach.Unfortunately, I was wrong. Adjusting the equalizer on any device I tried resulted in crackling bass as the signal overwhelmed the inadequate drivers in the HF5's. Adjusting bass down on my PC and my Harmon-Kardon home receiver eliminated the problem. Adjusting back up slowly would let the crackling creep back in. This happened regardless of the source music, so long as there was bass content to be had. I wasn't using anything so powerful as drum & bass music, either. Metallica's Death Magnetic tracks all exhibited the problem, and they're known for being bass-averse. Nine Inch Nails, Mudvayne, Seether, Breaking Benjamin and even trance tracks exhibited the issue.I am in the process of returning these. Anyone who enjoys music with accurate bass should stay far, far away from these earphones. I would only recommend these for someone who stuck to classical or jazz tracks, or wanted to listen to audiobooks.

5Extremely Natural, Looks great!!!
By Hannah
I purchased this, and was planning on using it on vacation, but I can't help myself. It is SO easy to figure out, and looks really good! I'm constantly having people compliment me on my hair, and I really like how it looks! It adds all the volume and length without actually growing your hair. Here are some things I didn't like about it:1. The hair arrived with one of the clips (the top middle one/most important one) broken. Fortunately, I was able to fix this, by attaching another clip on it, and securing it in place with a bobby pin.2. The hair tangles easily, and during my lunch break, I like to go home, and comb it out.3. Some of the hair keeps going throug the piece, have yet to find a solution to this issue.4. You are supposed to wash this after 5 uses, but I found that only in the directions when the piece arrived. It would have been nice to know that when you got it, as well as the fact that you should probably order a special leave-in-conditioner for synthetic hair. I had no idea, but now I do, so I ordered mine already.5. I don't know if I just have a small head, or what, but one of the issues I am having is that the piece seems a bit too big for my head. If I wear it too tight, it goes past my hairline, looking awkward. So I opted to wear it just a tad bit looser, and use the hair on top to cover the "line."Now, with all of that being said, this really is a great extension. I know that all that I wrote up there probably makes it look bad, but it really is great. I have never worn extensions before, and didn't really know what to expect. These are great to wear for a night out, just to spice things up, or to see if a particular hairstyle will look good on you. Whatever you do, do NOT, under any cirumstances straighten, use a curling iron, or any other heat on this piece. I accidentally did this morning, and it just simply burned off. No worries, though-at least it doensn't have that burned hair smell.I have already ordered another one, as well as the leave in conditioner for synthetic hair. The color magically matched my hair PERFECTLY! I couldn't have asked for a better match! This was on top of the fact that I just took a random guess at my color, and got it as close as I could via the internet. My boss said that as soon as he saw it, he was looking for a line, but couldn't find one. I have had many compliments, and it seems like I'm turning heads quite a bit now that I have them in. Highly recommend, just try to get a close match to your hair!!

4Best Extensions Without a Professional Stylist
By Roberta J. Aberle
VERY natural looking. People who haven't seen me for awhile, think I really have grown my hair that long. The only problem is that the cap and securing is more like a whole head {has the curvature of a full wig, not the lower section}. So unless you place them very high you can get a bulbous area toward the nape of the neck.Colors are natural, but unless you have highlights they would likely not blend with natural hair.

5Outstanding ATF!!!!
By Beau L. Borgersen
Have been using Red Line oil for many years in many different applications from race cars to daily drivers. I just recently purchased some of this D4 ATF to replace the Toyota T-IV in my 2006 camry SE. Did a complete flush. WOW!! I didnt know this car could shift any better. I am very confident in this fluid and have see it perform time and again here in the hot phoenix summers. Heat is the #1 enemy in any auto transmission and this fluid addresses this issue by allowing them to run much cooler. My trans is running about 20 degrees cooler than before the flush. Very happy with this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking to reduce wear, extend drain intervals and reduce heat and at the same time possibly improve shift characteristics.

4Nice looking decor
By Anthony Dials
We actually used this for our wedding as a different way to symbolize unity. We tied ribbons on the tree given to us by the two sets of parents and then tied a ribbon repsenting our own unity. It had a little more complexity than that, but it worked well for our marriage ceremony. It is a nice looking piece and now looks great in our family room. The only reason for not giving it a 5 is that there are some flaws that might make a picky consumer a little unnerved about, but it was fine with us.

I like this piece. It has been over my bed for a couple of years. I agree with the previous reviewer on the small flaws. A few little blobs of metal and some of the mother of pearl discs are glued on off center. Its pretty cool though and a nice size. Oh, and be aware that this does not hang flat.

Product Description

RED LINE SYNTHETIC MOTOR OILS Designed to provide the highest degree of protection and cleanliness for your engine. We use the most stable synthetic components available and formulate our products for wear protection across a wide range of operating conditions. Red Line Motor Oil lubricants contain polyol ester basestocks, the only lubricants which can withstand the tremendous heat of modern jet engines, which makes our motor oil a necessity to properly lubricate a turbocharger or hot- running engine. The synthetic basestocks have a natural multigrade property, which means that large amounts of unstable polymeric thickeners are not required to manufacture our multigrades. Red Line Synthetic Motor oils will provide better protection than a petroleum oil of the next higher viscosity grade at low rpms and two protects better than two higher viscosity grades at high shear conditions. Most importantly, Red Line Motor Oils can significantly reduce engine wear, which means a longer useful life for your engine. 10W40: Best choice for engines that typically run high oil temperature. 5Simply the best oil
By Kevin C. Brown
I realize choosing oil vendors is a bit like religion. I'll keep it short by saying that I've owned over 30 cars, modified the engines of 18 of them, and have two cars with seriously modded engines today.I started using Red Line in 2003 at the recommendation of a good friend. The first time I used it was in my BMW M3 that runs 487HP on the Dyno. When I changed the oil the first time, I was amazed at the condition of it, after 3,000 miles of hard use, it smelled and looked like the day I put it in. Six years later and moving the oil changes out to 6,000 miles, the results are still the same. And I purchased a 7 series L model since and went with Red Line in that one too.So if you aren't religious about your current brand, give Red Line a try. It may make you a Red Line cult follower. ;-D

4They are certainly knee pads and a helmet...
By MP
I bought this product for an active seven year old boy who insisted on wearing "heelies" and seemed to always get twigs stuck in the wheels or stuck on cracks in pavement, etc. His knees were so badly scraped that he'd often fall and scrape the scrapes. He was a huge fan of BEN 10, so convincing him to wear the kneepads was not an issue when he saw they were BEN 10. Previously to that, he was anti-pads because he said they were uncool - and so were helmets! They are decent quality and will do in a pinch - certainly better than nothing. He says they fit well and he wears them often and his knees look great now! I'm sure there are better products out there, but they also cost more. I'd say these are worth the money and especially considering the health and safety of any child is more valuable than anything - it's a good investment.

5My son love it!
By Mateo Yin
Excellent product! My son would keep it on 24/7 but they won't let him sit in the class with the helmet on :) I'm very happy with the purchase.

5Torque Nuts>Rockcentrics>Hexcentrics
By A. King
These are kind of in the middle of the spectrum as far as ease and security of placements. They aren't as awesome as the spendy new torque nuts, which are essentially an improvement on this already nifty design, but knock the pants off the wire slung straight BD hexes. I have placed them in interesting and what I thought were marginal placements only to be surprised at how well they resisted the rope movement. The sling prevents rope movement problems almost every time, but not as well as the torque nuts. Their awesome shape creates excellent camming action against the rock, and really locks them into placements, but again not as well as torque nuts. Why would I recommend this set then? Well, these come in a full range of sizes, and are roughly half the price of the new torque nuts. Consider these as the first buy, and then torque nuts for doubles. I have never met somebody with doubles of hexes, so I guess the Rockcentrics still will be the only thing on your rack.

4Good
By Fred
Great sound, pretty easy to install. Only two negatives... 1)there is a lot of hardware to install and it's a struggle to fit it all inside an old guitar without drilling more space. 2) Some of the cables supplied were not long enough for me and I still had to solder some extension wires.

5Good Product, Easy to install
By shojim89
I bought this along with an EMG 81 active pick-up and put them into my sons electric guitar. The installation process was painless do to the prewired harnesses. I had to do a small amount of soldering to wire in the selector switch but again that too was painless. The only problem I had was in trying to concele the circuit board and battery. Ultimately I ended taping the battery outside the back cover but was able to make the circuit board fit underneath. The sound combination is outstanding and my son is very pleased.

5Flat out incredible sound
By A. Simmons
I can unequivocally recommend these earphones. I have used a broad variety of earphones, including the Shure se530's Ultimate Ears triple-fi 10's and several Sennheisers. For this price, I've never heard sound so balanced, and with such clarity, coming out of an iPod. I feel like I'm in a sealed sound chamber when I listen with these, even when I'm on the bus. It's almost too isolating - sometimes I really lose touch with what's going on around me. I am a musician, and when I've done studio recordings, we listen for nuances in the instrumentation and music that you typically do not hear when playing back an MP3 file or CD. With the Etymotic hf5's, I'm getting the kind of clarity I get in the studio. And for just $150! There's no over-exaggerated bass, and I can hear every instrument and every voice. There's nothing like listening to an a capella group like Take 6 with the hf5. Or to an unplugged session where all kinds of things can happen in the tracks - if you can hear them. Oh, and the blue and red ones are cool-looking. Pretty much everyone replaces the earphones that come with your MP3 player, and you can spend a lot more on earphones than this, but I recommend $150 spent on these earphones as the biggest bang for your buck.

4Etymotic Research HF5
By Richard R. Tognazzini
I was looking for headphones that were in the $180 to $250 range. The top offerings were Shure SE420 and SE530, q-jays, Ultimate Ear superfi 5 pro and Etymontic Research ER-4P. As you maybe aware, only Amazon sales the HF5. When they offered them at one third off and after reading a review at [...], I decided to give them a try . The sound is good for me and the isolation is amazing. With the triple flanges eartips, I did not hear the fire alarm that went off in my building. With earphones in and the music off, I cannot hear people talking to me that are within 4 feet of me. The foam eartips are rated at -45db and the triple flanges are -35db. I called Etymotic Research to inquire about their glide eartips and they are sending a free set for me to try. Now that is good customer service. My purchases from Amazon have always been as advertized and I can recommend them to you.I received the glide eartips and recommend them. The glide eartip is foam eartip that is configure like a single flange eartip. The glide eartips are more comfortable then the triple flange and feel more secure then the foam eartips. The noise isolation, to my hears, is the same as the triple flange.

5Excellent earphones
By Bill Wohler
I purchased these to replace the ER-4P earphones that I lost. Since I was quite happy with the ER-4Ps, I returned to Etymotic and tried the next generation.I was not disappointed.I've been using them on the train for half a year now and they are holding up well. They block out most of the noise of the vending machines and trains outside and the passenger noise inside. The music blocks out the rest .The packaging is excellent. The carrying case is nicely done and small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. I can't remember if spare tips are provided, but I never used the spares for the ER-4Ps, so a) I understand Etymotic's decision not to include so many, and b) it's not a problem for me anyway since I have all the spares from the ER-4Ps which appear to be interchangeable. It seems that cheap and expensive earphones alike all suffer from the transfer of sound from their cords rubbing against your body while you walk. These are no exception. However, the rubber cords on these do a better job of insulating the noise then the ER-4Ps, but they aren't perfect. There is now a little cinch strap (located where the cords separate) that you can move up to pull the cord tight under your chin. This reduces the transferred noise to near zero when you walk. These earphones also don't stick out as much as the ER-4Ps, and have a really cool color. So, I'll bump my review to 5 stars for these earphones. But I'd like to see Etymotic keep working on reducing the noise transferred through the cord so that I don't have to choke myself with the cord to eliminate it :-).
