Powerful motor

This was my first MinnKota trolling motor, and I am impressed with the product. Very powerful, well built, and it is a true energy miser. I read the claim that a digital motor would use the battery power more efficiently, but I was surprised how well it did work. My previous motor was rated at 2/3 the thrust, and when fishing with it all day my battery would be at about 60% charge level. With this motor I am consistently at 75% to 80%, so I can fish 2 days now without recharging the battery and still be at the same level. You can't go wrong with this motor.

Costly but performs well

Only rated 4 stars because I have not had it long enough to rate it a 5..used this unit to replace a Bass Pro Shop Prowler trolling motor which was manufactured by Motorguide that only lasted 10 months. generally other MG units I have owned have lasted much longer but BPS said unit no longer manufactured and to get an equivalent unit would have cost me the difference in newer costs vs amount i paid even tho was told they would do an over the counter swap..to be fair to BPS they did refund my purchase price without any hassle so i decided to try Minn Kota...the best price was on Amazon so that is where I decided to purchase the item..I have only used it a couple of times, but so far, I am pleased with how it handles my boat. I do like the variable speed control as it is easier to match power with needs especially in the wind. I will post more later as I operate it more on water and can fairly gauge it's performance.
