Product Description
This is a Professional Model Fiber-Optic LED otoscope. It is a full size model with large 5x lens and an LED light source. It is of chrome plated brass construction and uses 2 C cell batteries for its power. Rechargeable C cells also work well in the otoscope. Standard size disposable specula work with the otoscope and attach over the nose cone just like Welch Allyn. The otoscope head attaches to the handle via a luer lock mount and can be removed so the handle can be used with an ophthalmoscope. The LED light uses a fiber-optic pathway to bring light into the ear canal. The light is very bright and illuminates the ear canal very well. The main advantage of an LED light is that it is impervious to shock and trauma unlike a halogen bulb which is incandescent and contains a fragile filament. Halogen bulbs for the high dollar otoscope companies can now run up to $35-$40.
2 other advantages you also have is that batteries will last and last since LED uses so little power. Also the LED light source is guaranteed for life to never go out. If it does a replacement LED module will be sent out to you free of charge. Not having to replace incandescent bulbs will add up to a substantial savings over the life of an otoscope. You can also purchase 2 sets of rechargeable batteries and never be without an otoscope like you could be with a W/A if you have to plug the handle into a wall to let it charge. Try it risk free with free super saver shipping on Amazon. If you don't agree that this is a great value then Amazon will provide you a mailing label to ship it back.

By John Schmitz
I am so impressed with this otoscope. I have been using Welch Allyn otoscopes my entire career as a pediatrician. They have functioned very well but are very expensive. I have also spent many dollars on bulb replacements over my 15 years in practice. I am not sure if it is the extraordinary bright light or just a better lens but the view of the tympanic membrane with this otoscope is definitely superior to my old Welch Allyn. What really amazes me is the light from this otoscope is brighter than any Welch Allyn I have ever used and the thought of never having to order another bulb makes me very happy. I purchased 2 sets of C cell rechargable batteries at radioshack to use with the otoscope but thus far have not changed or had to recharge the original set I put in the otoscope after 3 weeks of use in my busy practice. It is my understanding that the led light source only uses a fraction of the battery power compared to a halogen bulb.My only complaint is that I was unable to use my insufflation bulb that I already owned because the fitting was different on this otoscope than it was on my Welch Allyn. I was able to purchase one on the companies website though for $9. My Welch Allyn specula did work well with this otoscope and I was happy about this.

By Denise M.
Nice white light. Took a while getting used to the focal length, I eventually realised I did not need to get as close to it, to see clearly, as with my old WA. Great otoscope, especially for the price. I can see more clearly than with my 2.5V WA. Standard specula fit, but sometimes with difficulty. I ordered some from the seller and those are fine.

I purchased this otoscope when I saw that it was going to cost me almost $35 for a halogen bulb for my old otoscope. The light on this otoscope is very bright and I see the tympanic membrane more clearly than I did with my Welsh Allyn. It also appears very sturdy and well made. I admit I was sort of skeptical due to the low price but I could not be happier about my purchase. The only problem I had was the zipper on my case was not working smoothly but the company was very responsive and replaced it immediately after I notified then there was a problem.
