5Durable and easy to use
By L. Peyton Adams
This is a knife with a history going back to WWII concepts for tactical reasons, but I also find it as a good tool easy to reach out of a pocket with the clip, use one handed, and have a sharp point. Working around horses and pastures, I find I use it for everything from opening feed sacks, boxes, cutting debris off fences, and using the sharp point to remove splinters. It is handy to have and readily available to hand if you need something in a hurry. It has a good tactical history and use, its durable, its tough, its handy to the hand, and Gerber is a good brand.

5Gerber is where it's at.
By Todd C. Poulton
When it comes to tools a man should have in his pocket, Gerber is where it is at. I currently have The Gerber Covert Folder (this knife), The Gerber Combat Folder (old style not having the safety lockout) and several Gerber Multi-Tools (currently have one on my belt and one attached to the front of my Body Armor; I also used to have The Mini Covert Folder (but someone helped themselves to it a few years back). These knives are substantial, but not overly heavy. The grips are pretty nice, not likely to slip in your hand. I like them so much that when I saw the new ones with the green handles in another catalog, I went looking to see if I could get a better deal (stopped to fill out this review when I saw nobody else had, these are fine knives). When they come out of the package they are a little stiff and slow for opening, but if they weren't then they would probably fall apart in a year. Speaking of years, here is how long I have had some of these knives:Gerber Covert Folder: 1 yearGerber Combat Folder: 6 yearsGerber Multi-Tool: 6 years for my oldest one, nothing wrong with it, keep getting more as Employer issues them.If you work in a manly man's job, or are an outdoors kind of guy on your time off, then you probably already have a pocket full of knives; as those wear out, I suggest replacing them with these Gerbers, starting with a Multi-Tool on your belt an one or two appropriate sized folders in your pockets. It is a constant, the Afghans I work with are always trying to borrow my knives, they recognize the difference in what I have and what they can purchase locally.

4Taiwan Version
By D. Ritter
I like the liners and liner lock better than the full size version, also no edges to smooth off like it's bigger brother. Not very sharp however.
