Inferno Prime

WHY IS PRIME A FIRE TRUCK!!!???OK, now that that's out of my system... I've never seen a single episode of R.I.D but as an Optimus collector I hesitantly added this one to my collection, and then only because I found him at a price I couldn't refuse. Prime as a red fire truck, with hardly a trace of blue to be found? With a voice chip commanding himself to "Maximize"?! What Bizarro World did this thing tumble out of, anyway?But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The robots' smaller mode does bear a passing resemblance to the Optimus we all know and love, and the super mode, while resembling Primes' third cousin twice removed, is still impressive in it's own right.The fire truck mode, while odd for a Prime, holds together rather well and is one of the more realistic vehicle modes Optimus has taken on. I had to take away a star for the fact that his "trailor" portion doesn't transform so much as disasemble and snap on to the robot, as well as the previously stated fact that they made Prime a FIRE TRUCK! Otherwise, a better figure than I was expecting. "Autobots, maximi- ah, I mean transform and roll out!"

Okay so everyone freaked out when Optimus became a gorilla in beast wars, and everyone seems okay with Megatron numberous incarnation, but this is the only time optimus prime has been anything other than a freakin truck, and it worked, considering megatron is a dragon that makes fires....DUH! Transformers RID was a strange show, and a strange toy line to match it. I mean they had repaints, predacons, crazy animation, origional figures for the line, 2 new combiners for the autobot side a re-painted and renamed Sourge and Ruination combiner team...I digress, RID Prime has alot to offer, 4 missles that fire, optional shoulder mounted rocket pods, a small gun, and an optional base becomes armor with giant shoulder mounted cannon mode. Don't make me talk about ultra magnus combining with him, but this figure doesn't need magnus to be good, he's good on his own, his super mode robot mode is a little awkward, but the option of having a battle station for him is a plus. I think he's a good spin on an old name, which to be honest, needed a change.
