Best load leveler I could find on Amazon

Because I was on a deadline, and couldn't tell much from the photos, I ordered 3 different load levelers on Amazon: this unit, the Mountain Sling (Handsontools) and Engine Lifting Sling, Load Leveler by CVF Supply (cheap-not worth the money. The other units had no bushings, and a cheap crank, both of which would make it difficult to crank and manipulate under load. I kept the OTC from Costplustools-it was well made, and had the design details such as bushings, good attachment points and a good handle. I recommend this unit from Costplustools-you will be glad you did when you are pulling that engine.OTC Engine Load Leveler - 4305

If the previous review sounds like an advertisement for one of the retailers, don't be concerned. I bought this after the threaded rod on a brand new Harbor Freight "4-ton" leveler bent when I used it to pull an alloy-head 6 cylinder engine. I did some research and ended up buying this OTC model. It is excellent quality and works very well. The bearings at both ends allow easy adjustment under load. The Larin leveler is also a good choice, but stay away from the other cheap ones-- you'll wish you spent and extra $20 - $40 for a good one. Check the prices with shipping included, Amazon has a higher price (as of this writing), but it ships for free so it was a better deal.

Bought the OTC leveler to install the engine & trans in my Spitfire. With my wife assisting, took all of 15 minutes to get them in place and bolted down. I should have gotten a refund on the engine hoist rental! Do yourself a favor and use this leveler instead damaging paint and fingers.
