By Roger J. Buffington
There are several good laser rangefinder manufacturers, but Crimson Trace is without doubt one of the very best. This particular item, the Lasergrip LG402M, is the Mil-Spec second generation version designed specifically for the Beretta M9/92FS series of pistols. The grip installs very easily and simply as a replacement to the handgrip of the pistol. The grips themselves are made of a tough impact plastic with a businesslike beveling on the grip that gives a satisfying secure feeling to the shooter when gripping the pistol. This is very professional hardware. The laser activates by a pressure switch located on the front portion of the grip. This is very ergonomic, and the shooter quickly adapts to this arrangement--exert firm pressure on the grip, as a shooter should, and the laser activates.Sighting in the laser is very easy. Crimson Trace provides two separate allen wrenches for adjusting windage and elevation; one fits inside the grip, the other can be kept elsewhere for easy access, i.e. to take to the range. Typically the shooter will adjust the laser so that it is coincident with a perfect sight picture. My experience is that this can be done prior to a range trip. Then one trip to the range will possibly result in minor fine tuning, and that is it. Once these grips are adjusted in, you will likely not be adjusting them again. The laser dot is plenty bright for pretty much any pistol shooting distance in dim light, and is probably good for maybe 20-30 feet in sunlight, depending on conditions. And make no mistake: firing with a laser sight such as this one can really improve one's aim. Once adjusted in, the bullet goes where the laser points. The Beretta is a tactical pistol, with pretty accurate sights, but the sights are designed for quick target acquisition (as they should be for a tactical sidearm) meaning a somewhat wider rear sight notch, which creates a bit lesser accuracy as opposed to a target sight. The laser removes that minor shortcoming and makes the Beretta more competitive as a target pistol. Plus, it is just plain fun to shoot with a laser sight! One minor nit: there is no adjustment for the dot as between constant and strobe. I like the strobe option that some laser sights have; the human eye is attracted to motion, i.e. strobe, plus strobe reduces the duty cycle and thereby increases battery life. On the other hand this laser uses two relatively beefy CR2032 batteries, and has an estimated duty life of four hours. That is a lot of capacity. The overall "feel" of these grips is that this is one heavy-duty accessory. It is built to exceed Military Specifications, and this is quite evident during use. The grips have a sharp, no-nonsense look to them that owners of the Beretta M9/92fs will appreciate and take pride in. The feel of the grip fits my hand very nicely, and these grips are of higher quality than the one that the OEM grip for the M9 or 92fs. Highly recommended without reservation. RJB.

By Nukedude
Crimson Trace once again made an excellent product for use with the Beretta 92FS/M9 handgun. This unit is the military spec waterproof one. (Well water resistant since nothing is totally waterproof.) Front activation switch works when you want it to. Just be sure to watch the DVD and place a finger over the laser so you do not sent a beam downrange when you do not want to. Installation was easy, except my Beretta had odd length screws and I removed the lock washer from the two top screws so they would sit flush with the new grips. The rubber compound is easy to grip, and doesn't seem to harden in the cold. Laser holds zero once adjusted, this is not my first CT product and it will not be my last either. Even looks like it was meant to be on this firearm. Highly recommended. Can also be had in infra-red for government agencies or law enforcement.

Zeroed my new grips last weekend. It took 10 rds (2 shot groups) and about 5 min to adjust elevation and windage and walk them onto the X. At 10 yds the group is the size of a nickel. Highly recommended for low light, squeeze-sight-shoot conditions. Love them.
