Purchased this monitor from Amazon and have used it for about a year. I did my homework before purchasing this item and it has lived up to my expectations 100 percent.Easy to use on screen adjustments for color, brightness, contrast, etc~ Crisp colors, sharp images and native max resolution of 1280x1024 make this monitor a winning proposition for users regardless of use; business graphics or gaming. Especially though, for gaming. This is not a "wide screen" 19 inch monitor with a 16-9 aspect ratio- it is the full blown 19" version with a 4-3 aspect ratio. You get a great bonus in usable screen area that comes in handy on the desktop and allows for much better viewing in my opinion. Vertical refresh rates range from 60~75 Hertz. The preferred (default) resolution is 1280x1024 at 60 Hertz.I rank it as the best value in it's class.

Easy to set up and a good clean picture, bright colors, no distortion. I just wish there was greater availability of these standard size monitors as all of us consumers don't want or need widescreen.

Just bought one of these to replace an NEC that was slowly fading away. I agree with the observations of the other two reviews with respect to performance and value.I'm also using it in a two-display setup, with a Mac, and it is better in some respects than the more expensive (but much older) 19" NEC monitors that I've been using. The "go to black" (a TV term) is much better than the NEC, as is the robustness of the colors, when compared with a television colorbar test pattern side by side. On the other hand, the evenness of the florescent backlighting is better on the NECs: on the Viewsonic it is brighter on the bottom, with a gradual transition to not-quite-as-bright on the top. Not a problem for me, but for color professionals, an issue. The only negative that I can register is that (unlike the NECs) the stand does not allow the monitor to sit more than four inches or so above the desktop. The NECs have an extendable/adjustable stand which allows the monitor to sit some seven inches above the surface, which makes it much easier on the neck muscles.
