Excellent speakers for the price!!!

I've had 4 of these speakers hooked up to an Acoustic Research center channel and subwoofer as a complete 5.1 system. These speakers have very nice and clear sounds. In the past, I've had the Bose, Acoustic Research, and Klipsch Quintet III 5.1 systems, and these Energy Takes actually produce the best sound quality out of all of them. For some reason, I'd like to replace speakers once every 3 years or so to sample their sounds, as some do it with cars. It's hard to describe the sound quality as opposed to be heard to experience. But to wrap it up, these Takes are the best speakers of all the bookshelf systems I've had. Of course, none of them could come close to my top-of-the-line JBL tower speakers, but those are tower speakers and they cost $4000 (even 10 years ago).

Solid Left/Right or Surround Speaker

I've used this speaker both as and addition to a Take Classic system (as the front channel speakers in a 7.1 surround system) and as surround speakers in a higher end system (Two Take TWRs for the front channels, a Take FPS for the center channel, and four Take SATs for the surrounds. These speakers have a nice, neutral frequency resoponse that make them a great home theater speaker. They only weigh about 2.5 pounds, which makes them easy to use with most speaker stands (though Energy sells some custom fit ones that look really slick too). Use an Energy Take LCR for your center channel and a ESW-8 (or if you can spring for it, an ESW-V8) for your sub, and you'll have a rocking home theater system!

In my Media Room I utilize the larger Energy AC-300 center channel speaker for all five channels. I've used them for over 10 years. In 2010 I saw these speakers at a very low price. I ended by buying 10 of them and set-up five for my master bed-room and put another 5 in my son-in-laws living room. They have been great little speakers. I recommend only using them as surrounds for large rooms. For small rooms you can use them on all five channels. For my bed-room I ended up replacing the center and fronts with LCRs while keeping these for the rears. My friends liked what they heard so much they bought 10 each also. If you do use these for the front, buy a sub because they were not designed for fronts and do not have a strong base.
