My wife was thrilled. The stones are definitely on the dark side but the setting helps offset that. The size is impressive, but not obnoxious on a woman's ear.

The earrings arrived in decent packaging described by other reviewers, I would say that it is OK but nothing spectacular (similar quality as you might expect from a mall jewelry store). The earrings themselves are quite large for the price that you are paying, which is the major plus of this item. I have no doubt in my mind that you would not be able to get stones this large at this price at a normal jewelry store. The stones themselves were good matches so that you cannot see a noticeable difference when they are being worn. Ok, it is impossible to expect large matched stones for < $300 without sacrificing in some area. The stones them self are described as dark blue, I would say they are very dark blue in some light they are going to look black.Overall these are nice earrings for the money spent, it just depends on the taste of the person receiving the gift.
